11 Khud Mukhtar incubatees' businesses initiated

September 15th 2017: NOWPDP has successfully graduated a batch of 11 people out of an initial pool of 100+ entries that were submitted for Khud Mukhtar – a business idea competition for persons with disabilities. More than 30 shortlisted men and women with physical, visual and hearing impairment, from across Karachi presented their business ideas to the jury in group and individual form during the finale.

All the shortlisted candidates had undergone various stages of guidance and mentorship through the program where their business plans were refined under guidance of experienced entrepreneurs of Karachi.  11 business ideas were finalized for incubation with the collaboration of 10xC.

The 11 incubatees and their respective businesses are as following;

  • Noor Mohammad – Wallet Production
  • Adnan Farooqui – Mobile Shop & Repairing
  • Allah Baksh – Hair Salon
  • Muhammad Arif – Tailoring shop
  • Sahiba Rani – Women Accessories
  • Muhammad Kamran – Bakery and grocery shop
  • Muhammad Ali – Electric shop (retail and repair)
  • Faheem Khan – Shawarma Shop
  • Mehraj-uddin – Digital Weighing Machine Repair and Services
  • Danish Hussain – Book stall and Printing Centre
  • Aliya Khan – General Store for Women

The selected incubatees have acquired the initial equipment and infrastructure needed to set up their businesses, and some have already began operations. NOWPDP continues to monitor, guide and review the progress of these business ventures.
