NOWPDP conducts its second Karachi teacher training workshop on 'Sight Reading'.
NOWPDP conducted its second workshop in Karachi on April 10th, 2010 in Regent Plaza Hotel for practitioners belonging to nine different schools and organizations. A total of 23 teachers attended the workshop, an evidence of the continuous success of the program. As per before, the session conducted was on ‘Sight Reading’ a continuation of the Teacher Training Program, based on the concept of Training of Trainers (ToT), embarked in January, 2010 for the province of Sindh. The teachers were not only taught the course material on Sight Reading but were given the required time to practise the technique so that they can easily administer it within their own schools.
The training was conducted by Aysha Jamall and Sarwat Zehra, two of the ten professional trainers developed by NOWPDP. This eclectic mixture of teachers have been deliberately sought for by NOWPDP staff to allow an opportunity for teachers to visualize their role as part of a larger community, rather than restricting one’s affiliation to a school or any other institution. Such outlook beautifully ties into NOWPDP’s vision of acting as a Network in this sector connecting singular dots to create a more unified front in our quest for a more inclusive society.
Trainings of a similar nature, with the current curriculum, will continue till all special and inclusive education school teachers in Sindh are covered.
