NOWPD,P Art Competition 2009: ‘The Colors of My World’ / ‘Meri Dunya Kay Rungg’ 

Following the success of NOWPDP’s celebrations of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, on the 3^rd of December 2008, it gives us great pleasure to announce our latest initiative. We at NOWPDP believe, as do all our members, that social activities and interaction are an essential part of learning life skills and building self-confidence and leading meaningful lives. In keeping with this, we have planned a nationwide art competition for children with disabilities, “Meri dunya ke rungg’ to provide them with a vibrant platform to showcase and reward their skills, as well as give them an opportunity to have an enjoyable day out.

The competition will be held on the 1^st of March 2009 in Karachi; and at a slightly later date in Lahore & Islamabad. We would like to use this platform to invite all our member and non member schools for children with disabilities to participate in the event. Details for the Art Competition to be held in Karachi are mentioned below; schools and organizations from Sindh and Baluchistan are requested to send their nominations for the Art Competition to be held in Karachi. However, schools/organizations from other regions of Pakistan will be able to participate in the Art Competitions to be held in Lahore and Islamabad respectively; details of the Lahore and Islamabad Art Competition will be posted shortly.


NOWPD,P Art Competition 2009 - Karachi

NOWPD,P Art Competition 2009: ‘The Colors of My World’ / ‘Meri Dunya Kay Rungg’  will be held on 01^st March 2009 in Karachi, at the Aga Khan University’s Football Ground, at 9.00 AM. Further information about the event is listed below:

• The theme is ‘The Colors of My World,’ or ‘Meri Duniya Kay Rungg,’ and the competition will be held in 2 categories: Calligraphy & Painting.

• To be eligible, participants must between 12 to 16 years old. Younger or older individuals are not eligible for participation. However there is no age eligibility criterion for participants with mental disabilities.

• There must be not more than 2 participants from one school/organisation, and 1 teacher/attendant accompanying the participants. Please select the 2 most talented young artists from your school/organization to participate.

• Participants are offered 3 mediums to choose from: pencils, crayons, and watercolors, and will be provided with requisite stationary and tools by NOWPD,P. The participant’s chosen category, i.e. Calligraphy or Painting, along with his/her choice of medium must be communicated to NOWPD,P beforehand (please see attached Registration Form).

• Lunch will be served to the guests and the participants. All the artwork will be displayed for participants and guests. The participants will be rewarded for their efforts during a prize distribution ceremony.

• Kindly fill out the enclosed form for both participants and send it to NOWPD,P by post or email, no later than the 19^th of February 2009. Forms arriving after this date will not be considered for participation.

• In order to be eligible for participation in the Art Competition, your school/organization must be a member of NOWPD,P. For this purpose, please fill out the Membership Form on the main page of our website along with the Participant Entry/Registration form. There are no membership charges, and as a member of the Network you will be able to participate in any NOWPD,P upcoming or ongoing projects and events.
