NOWPDP initiated Artpreneurs for Change (AfC) in 2011, as a project that provides creative and artistic expression of self for children with disabilities. By training individuals as Art as Therapy Practitioners (ATPs) and working with children with disabilities, the project equips them with tools that enable free expression of thoughts and emotions to the world, through art.
To train individuals to use art as a therapeutic medium to engage children with disabilities.
October 2017 – December 2017
Individuals who have applied for the project will be shortlisted and contacted for in-person or telephonic interviews with our team. Selection of ATPs for the round, will based purely on merit and each round will have a batch of 25 ATPs.
Once ATPs have been selected, they will be provided training and supervision by an art therapy professional. An Intensive 6 day training for ATPs will be conducted, over a span of 2 weeks, led by an Art Therapy professional.
In the third phase ATPs will be will be placed within special education institutes to work with children with various disabilities such as physical impairments, hearing impairments, intellectual impairments, Down Syndrome and the Autism Spectrum, under the supervision of an art therapy professional. The implementation phase will span over 8 weeks, where ATPs will have 2 hour sessions once a week with their group of children with disabilities.
