Friday, 22nd April 2016: NOWPDP signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shell Pakistan which would not only enable Shell franchisees (retailers) to hire persons with disabilities as retail site forecourt staff by creating better employment opportunities for them, but also help foster an enabling environment for the new recruits by engaging all stakeholders in sensitization training to build better work ethos amongst the forecourt staff.
Commenting on this collaboration Mr. Mazhar Ud Din, General Manager, Retail Shell Pakistan Limited said “At Shell we wish to create an environment of inclusiveness at our retail forecourts in which people with diverse backgrounds and abilities can live up to their potential and develop. Through this programme we wish to bring together remarkable people and economically empower them to positively contribute to the society.”
Mr. Amin Hashwani, President, NOWPDP, remarked: “NOWPDP has been working continuously to support persons with disabilities and one of our leading priorities is to enable these individuals to be self-sufficient. We hope that the recently signed MoU will set precedence in the petroleum sector and we’re extremely happy to be a part of this project.”
This project, titled ‘Awaz’, will be executed by Program Yaqeeen and is slated to be rolled out across 10 retail forecourt sites of Shell in Karachi and will be gradually expanded to other cities across Pakistan.
