A Glimpse of the Graduation Ceremony

4th of December saw a massive and jubilant graduation ceremony of more than 150 trainees with disabilities from the NOWPDP Training Center!

The NOWPDP Training Center is a relatively newer addition and a haven for skills development training housing a multitude of trades. Skills development trainings help bolster people with disabilities secure employment that they are usually barred from considering the discrimination and lack of opportunities in education for them.

Representatives from the donor companies that graciously facilitated the NOWPDP Training Center and different trainings were present to hand out awards and certificates to the trainees. The trainees beaming with their classmates and parents all accepted them and showed their great appreciation.

Javeria, one of the beneficiaries and trainee of the dress making course said, “My parents are joyous that I also graduated from NOWPDP like my other sisters did. All three of us sisters have a physical disability but that hasn’t stopped us from going forward.”

Vice President NOWPDP, Ronak Lakhani was also present and greatly commended the NOWPDP Training Center for the work in bringing people with disabilities to the mainstream from the margins.

Much to the audience’s delight, renowned singer, Zoe Vicajji also came to hand out trainees to one graduating batch and thrilled everybody with her melodious tunes where the sign language interpreter present signed her song lyrics to the deaf community present.
