AMANTECH pens agreement with NOWPDP and Special Olympics Pakistan to impart vocational training to persons with disabilities

Monday, 12th June 2017: The Aman Institute for Vocational Training (AMANTECH) joined hands with disability inclusion organizations – Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) and NOWPDP to impart vocational training to persons with disabilities. This collaboration, titled ‘Project Shahpar’, announced earlier in March this year, was formalized at a private agreement signing ceremony held at a local hotel.

Mr. Ahmad Jalal, CEO – The Aman Foundation, remarked “The inclusion of persons with special needs through this pilot project is a proud moment for us. I believe these trainees will achieve their due potential and upon success, we intend to expand Project Shahpar further.”

Special Olympics Pakistan Chairperson – Ms. Ronak Lakhani was of the view that collaborations such as these open a door of opportunities for persons with disabilities who will hopefully advance in their careers post-training.

“Perceptions need to be revised and success stories established so sympathy becomes empathy and apathy becomes social action as we equip persons with disabilities with marketable skills”, added Mr. Amin Hashwani, President – NOWPDP.

This vocational training project is slated for July and will take place at the AMANTECH premises in Karachi. Program Dastoor will be implementing the project from NOWPDP.
