Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2016 with a motivational session

Friday, 2nd December 2016: NOWPDP hosted a motivational session to commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities (celebrated on 3rd December globally) at its office in Saddar.

A series of speakers consisting of Mr. Salman Elahi – Chairman Pakistan Blind Sports Federation and Team Lead K-Electric Head Call Center, Qazi Fazli Azeem – Head of Department – School of Design & Assistant Professor KITE and South Asia’s 1st self-advocate for the Autism spectrum, and last but not the least Mr. Sohail Zindani, Founder and CEO – Learning Minds Group and renowned motivational speaker, interacted with the youth, reminding them that everyone is different but equally capable as long as they realise their strengths.

Young adults with disabilities associated with NOWPDP from special schools like JS Academy for the Deaf, Bahria Special School and Zainab Rehabilitation Center (ZRC) and mainstream vocational training institutes like The Hunar Foundation, Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) and ZMVG Rangoonwala Trust were in presence along with some of their parents. Persons without disabilities also joined in, giving a boost to everyone’s confidence and motivation. Famous host, actor, singer and RJ Dino Ali was also present at the event, adding to the event’s fervor.

This celebration is part of NOWPDP’s efforts in providing an inclusive platform, bringing together persons with and without disabilities from all walks of life, at an accessible space within its office, referred to as the ‘NOWPDP House’- located at the heart of the city.
