Social Welfare Department in collaboration with NOWPDP organized the Special CNIC Registration Camp to provide a one-window operation for persons with disabilities to register for Employment Card, Disability Certificate and the Special CNIC.
The usual process for a Special CNIC involves visiting four different government offices to gather all required documents. Moreover, most government offices are not fully accessible or fit to cater to persons with disabilities. Therefore, Social Welfare Department and NOWPDP brought together the Employment Exchange Department, Health Department and NADRA (National Database and Regulatory Authority) to facilitate a ‘one-window’ process of registration of 200 Special CNICs for persons with disabilities.
Apart from the Government Departments who came together to make this Camp possible, we are also thankful of our partner organizations – Special Olympics Pakistan, Family Educational Services Foundation and Aga Khan Social Welfare Board for their cooperation and participation in the event.
This was the first camp to be followed by many more that Social Welfare Department and NOWPDP are planning in Sindh over 2016 and onwards.
