heARTwork training 100 students across 5 schools in Karachi

heARTwork’s core philosophy is to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) through the promotion of their craftsmanship, and one of the most effective methods of doing so is to develop the their skill set with relevance to the disability. Therefore, heARTwork has formed partnerships with five different schools for persons with disabilities in Karachi, namely Society for the Rehabilitation of Special ChildrenZainab Rehabilitation Centre, Bahria Special School, Ida Rieu, and Islamic School for the Deaf, where the heARTwork Ambassador Team is currently conducting different training courses for the students.

At Society for the Rehabilitation of Special Children and Zainab Rehabilitation Centre, the Ambassador Team is training students with an intellectual impairment in weaving. While at Bahria Special School, Ida Rieu and Islamic School for the Deaf, the Ambassador team is conducting textile-design and screen printing training for students with a hearing impairment.

The duration of these training courses, which commenced in August and which are sponsored by Pakistan State Oil (PSO), is three months and a total of hundred students are benefiting from these training courses, across the five institutes..
