In conversation with Karachi's public through Baithaks powered by Soneri Bank

Baithaks powered by Soneri Bank have been on the road since November 2016 covering various towns and union councils of Karachi including Saddar, Lyari, New Karachi, SITE, Jamshed Town, Orangi and New Karachi.

The NOWPDP team elicited diverse viewpoints of local populace, including educational institutions like SZABIST and Markaz-e-Umeed school and markets such as Naseem Cloth Market in Lasbela , on disability and persons with disabilities and provided guidance on appropriate disability etiquette. The Special CNIC process for persons with disabilities was also discussed with many beneficiaries taking NOWPDP’s guidance for completing the process.

“I know of a few persons with disabilities and this Baithak was very helpful in giving me ideas on how to help them – usually we see these TV shows and in newspaper but never on the street with live examples so this is a great initiative”, said Kumber from Soldier Bazar – Jamshed Town. Support for the cause was apparent from persons with and without disabilities – alike. Faisal, a resident of North Karachi who is physically impaired remarked, “Unless and until we do not work together towards inclusion, we cannot attain success.”

The contributions of Soneri Bank towards Baithak were invaluable in ensuring its success and in spreading the message of diversity and positivity for a progressive tomorrow in line with the ‘Roshan Har Qadam’ mandate.
