Monday, 4th July 2016: As part of its efforts to provide organizations a platform for inclusion, NOWPDP hosted a social awareness activity in collaboration with the renowned Pakistani cellular service provider Ufone. The team from Ufone consisted of their energetic summer interns and Human Resources Department personnel, all of whom participated in various art activities with children with intellectual disabilities from NOWPDP’s partner organization – Society for Rehabilitation of Special Children (SRSC) and NOWPDP’s own employees with disabilities.
At one end of the room, Ufone’s summer interns sat with NOWPDP’s employees with disabilities and decorated finely-crafted, miniature Rickshaws with vivid oranges and greens, representative of Ufone’s signature colors. Vishal, NOWDPD’s employee with a physical disability remarked “It feels very good to work together with everyone. I enjoy telling everyone how the decoration is done on the miniature rickshaws.”
On the other side, children from SRSC, coupled with efforts from summer interns of Ufone and NOWPDP’s employees with disabilities who handle embroidery work, created wonderful Eid cards for themselves to take home. In the words of a very excited student from SRSC – Saifullah, “I love colors and art, it makes me happy”. Along with these Eid cards, a handful of special Eid cards were designed and created for Ufone. They were beautifully designed with ink-stamped magenta and black flowers, and screen-printed Ufone logos along with their popular catchphrase “Teri Meherbani”.
“It has been an amazing experience. I never thought an organizational atmosphere could be this friendly and peaceful. I am really glad I did this”, exclaimed Isra – one of Ufone’s summer interns. NOWPDP is thankful to the Ufone team for their time, efforts and generous contribution and looks forward to working with them towards the creation of an inclusive society.
